Cleveland Clinics Imaging Institute is seeking an Interventional Radiologist with a strong background in Clinical Research and ideally with experience or interest in basic science research to join the Section of Interventional Radiology. This position requires formal fellowship training in Interventional Radiology, American Board Certification, and CAQ in Interventional Radiology.

This position includes directorship of IR Research and our dedicated, well-equipped angio-animal laboratory and 40% time allotted toward academic endeavors, with the remaining 60% of time dedicated to clinical practice. Our lab is staffed by a full time research associate with a doctorate in cell and molecular biology with research experience in liver cirrhosis, HCC and pancreatic cancer. Ongoing projects include investigating drug resistance in HCC; tumor immune microenvironment and investigating biosimilars for HCC treatment. The candidate will have a joint appointment with Biomedical Engineering at Lerner Research Institute with potential for joint appointment at Case Western Reserve University. Professorship will be dependent upon level of experience. As part of Lerner Research Institute Faculty the candidate will have access to research cores including the engineering unit, proteomics core, animal laboratory as well as many additional resources. As a newly appointed investigator, the candidate is eligible for a generous startup package and yearly support money for research. The Section has use of a fully staffed and professionally managed Radiology research group which coordinates and supports clinical research and trials. We are a Center of Excellence for liver tumor research which collaborates with Case Western University and University Hospitals providing additional resources through other participating labs. Mentorship from Lerner Research Institute Faculty is readily available.

Cleveland Clinic, an internationally renowned mid-western subspecialty medical center, is comprised of a 1400+ bed main hospital, ambulatory care facilities, and research institute. There are eight additional community hospitals integrated into the IR practice. The Interventional Section has a long history of exceptional care for patients with Vascular, Hepatobiliary, Gastrointestinal, Renal and Oncologic diseases. Diagnostic imaging and interventional equipment are state-of-the-art, including 6 angiography labs at the main campus, additional angiography labs at the associated community hospitals and an active MRA/CTA program. There is an interventional radiology clinic, as well as dedicated multidisciplinary clinics for liver tumors, vascular malformations and IVC filters. The IR staff are assisted by 8 IR nurse practitioners/physicians assistants as well as 3 radiologist assistants. Our annual interventional procedural volume exceeds 10,000 at the main campus and over 5000 at the community hospitals.

A wide spectrum of adult and pediatric vascular, organ specific and transplant related interventions are routinely performed. GI and GU interventional procedures are common and include transhepatic biliary drainage, TIPS, PV recanalization, gastrostomy and nephrostomy placement, ureteral stenting and percutaneous stone extraction. There is an active transcatheter therapeutic program including uterine fibroid embolization, prostate artery embolization, chemoembolization, radioembolization, vascular malformation embolization and sclerosis, fistula interventions, PAD and pulmonary artery angioplasty. The Section also performs ablative procedures of renal, hepatic and soft-tissue tumors.

We have 2 ACGME approved Integrated IR Residency positions and 4 Independent IR Residency positions per year; resident education is emphasized, including simulator training.
