Division Chief, Pediatric Critical Care

Baystate Health, western Massachusetts’ premier healthcare provider and home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School – Baystate, is seeking an experienced Pediatric Intensivist to join our organization as Division Chief.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

• Provide clinical and academic leadership for our well-established division at Baystate Children’s Hospital (BCH) in Springfield MA. BCH is a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and a member of the Children’s Oncology Group with onsite subspecialists across 13 pediatric divisions. Our 107-bed facility includes the region’s only PICU and NICU, as well as pediatric inpatient services, child life specialists, a designated 24-hour pediatric ED and outpatient specialty services.
• Our team of 5 pediatric intensivists cares for a diverse patient population up to 22 years of age with wide variety of medical and surgical diagnoses.
• As Division Chief and PICU Medical Director, you will
o Cultivate and facilitate clinical and QI research through affiliations with the Northeast PICU Consortium, PALISI Network and Solutions for Patient Safety.
o Lead our engagement in medical education (peds, med-peds and EM residents, 4th year medical students). Our onsite simulation center provides fully accredited world-class medical training facilities. Enjoy a faculty appointment to the UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate (preferably Associate Professor or higher).
o Facilitate faculty development and contributions to the department’s and hospital’s vision and mission.
o Provide operational oversight of our 7-bed PICU.
o Manage the sedation service in our state-of-the-art pediatric procedure unit and provide input to the regional critical care transport team.
o Foster a culture of collaboration across service lines (trauma, pediatric surgery, pediatric EM) to care for critically ill patients regardless of their location within the hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• ABP BC in pediatric critical care. 5+ years’ experience with evidence of progressive management responsibilities and leadership in an academic department.
• Demonstrable record of collaboration, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enthusiasm for medical education and mentoring junior faculty and ability to engage a broad base of potential stakeholders to work towards a shared vision.
