Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health and Indiana University School of Medicine are seeking to fill a Pediatric Hospitalist role in our dynamic team within a fast-paced clinical environment with strong focus on quality, innovation, teaching, and scholarly activity. Serving more than 6,000 patients in 2019, Riley Hospital Medicine is committed to excellence in the care of hospitalized children. Our team of more than 30 physicians continually strives to improve care through quality improvement, collaboration with inpatient specialists and primary care providers, community outreach, and the education and training of future healthcare providers. We seek a diverse applicant pool to complement the diversity of our patient population, and we strive for equity and inclusion in our practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Primarily serving at Riley Hospital for Children, our large quaternary care Children's Hospital in the Heart of downtown Indianapolis.
  • Faculty appointment with the Indiana University School of Medicine
    • Teaching on service (pediatric residents and PHM fellows)
    • Participation in departmental educational endeavors
    • Encouraged to participate in scholarly pursuits
  • Procedures include (but are not limited to): lumbar puncture, possible circumcision,
  • IU North Hospital Pediatric inpatient care with PICU coverage overnight.
  • IU West Hospital Newborn/NICU to attend high-risk deliveries on a labor and delivery unit with approximately 80-100 total deliveries per month, rounding on normal newborns, and staffing an 8 bed Level II NICU, which serves infants >32 weeks gestational age and >1500 grams at birth

Position Details:
  • 12 hour shifts, may be split between days and nights; 141 shifts per year.
  • Holidays and weekends are evenly distributed among all faculty.
  • Some opportunities for additional moonlighting.

Qualifications:
  • Completion of pediatric residency
  • Completion of PHM fellowship desired, but not required.
  • BE/BC in pediatrics.
  • Physician MD/DO licensed in Indiana or eligible for medical licensure.
  • New graduates and experienced physicians are encouraged to apply.
