Riley Hospital for Children is seeking to add a Pediatric Hospitalist to join our division committed to pursuing the highest standard of care possible for hospitalized children in the state of Indiana. We care for a highly diverse patient population and are strong advocates for equality in healthcare.

Riley Hospital for Children is a quaternary care children's hospital located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. It is the cornerstone of pediatric care in the state. The patients we care for in this hospital are numerous and diverse in both types of disease processes seen as well as in their races, ethnicities, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. As the primary admitting service for general pediatrics at Riley Hospital, we care for all general pediatric inpatient conditions including but not limited to febrile infants, common respiratory illnesses, routine childhood infections and illnesses, febrile seizures, BRUE, and more. In addition we are the primary admitting service for many other smaller subspecialties including Neurology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Genetics, Adolescent Medicine, toxicology, and more. As a teaching hospital, we have a vast array of learners as well including medical students and residents from a variety of programs including categorical pediatrics, med/peds, EM/Peds, Child Neuro, Neurodevelopmental disorders, Pediatrics/genetics, Family Practice, Transitional interns, and more.

IU North hospital is a community-based partner that houses an 11 bed Pediatric/PICU unit, in addition to its very busy newborn nursery and NICU. Providers in our group care for many of the same types of patients that are seen at Riley, as we have many sub-specialists who are able to come and consult from their nearby clinics, or via telemedicine. The unit is staffed by a Hospitalist and a PICU doctor during the day shift, and is covered by our hospitalist team at night, with PICU backup available at all times. We have EM/Peds providers in the ER here as well for several hours of the day.

IU West Hospital is a suburban community hospital that draws from a variety of areas including urban, suburban and rural communities. We have a busy newborn nursery with a level II special care nursery that is staffed by our hospital medicine physicians. They are NRP trained and attend high risk deliveries, care for common late preterm conditions and other lower acuity neonatal conditions in the special care nursery.

Riley and IU North Newborn units are part of our mother/baby care teams, including the brand-new maternity tower within Riley Hospital for Children. They are supported by level III NICU providers/units in both locations.

Qualifications:
  • NRP certification
  • Will consider PHM fellowship trained or pediatric residency graduates
  • BE/BC in pediatrics
  • Physician MD/DO licensed in Indiana or eligible for medical licensure
