Cleveland Clinic Florida s Neurosciences Institute is seeking a board certified psychiatrist for the position of Regional Chair for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The department encompasses the Psychiatry and Behavioral Health service lines within the Florida Region of Cleveland Clinic. Cleveland Clinic currently has a Baker Act Receiving facility located at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital located in Vero Beach, Florida. The Behavioral Health Center has 3 behavioral Health units with 46 licensed beds, including a child and adolescent unit and two general adult units, averaging approximately 1900 admissions annually. This year, an Intensive Outpatient Program for adolescents was started at our Behavioral Health Center in collaboration with local funders and the Indian River Hospital District and it is anticipated to grow to encompass adults in the upcoming fiscal year. In addition, there is a strong tele-psychiatry consult and liaison contract that covers the majority of the emergency departments and medical floors within the Region.

The Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health will lead the growth of behavioral health services across the Florida region. While currently the majority of services are located in Indian River County, there are growth opportunities, particularly ambulatory psychiatry and behavioral health, across all locations. The Florida Region encompasses CC Weston, CC Martin Health, CC Tradition and CC Indian River hospitals. The new chair of the department will have the opportunity to build behavioral health services throughout the region.

Qualified candidates will be expected to demonstrate experience and strength in the following areas:
  • Embrace the clinical culture of Patients First and focus on Access, Quality, Safety and Patient Experience
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in successfully managing and mentoring physicians and other caregivers
  • Develop regional alliances/networks and actively participate in CC Florida strategic planning
  • Outstanding communication skills are needed to foster alignment with the Neurosciences Institute, Department of Psychiatry in CC Ohio and CC Florida, with emphasis on programming; aligning with program metrics
  • Expand the local and regional outreach of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences program
  • Record of success identifying philanthropic opportunities and cultivating key relationships to grow same
  • Track record of positive interpersonal engagement across behavioral health professionals
