The Duke University Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, seeks a Nephrology board certified transplant nephrologist at the Associate or Professor level to join its robust and continuously growing Kidney Transplant Program, and to direct our Living Donor Transplant Program. Successful applicants will join a rapidly growing kidney transplant program, which resides in a vertically integrated Transplant Center model, that is strongly supported by the Duke School of Medicine, the Duke Health System, Duke Hospital and the Division of Nephrology. Duke is projected to transplant over 250 patients this calendar year, a doubling of the volume since 2015. This increase in volume will make Duke the largest transplant program in North Carolina and within the top 25% nationwide. The Kidney Transplant Program is fueled by innovative clinical and research initiatives, a well-resourced support staff, access to world leaders in other medical and surgical fields, and a growing referral network throughout North Carolina and the Southeastern United States.

We seek a team player and experienced leader, who will focus efforts on leading and growing our Living Donor Program, including a team of transplant coordinators and assistants, focused on safely identifying more living donor options for our wait listed patients. Additionally, this individual will help build our transplant referral network, provide care for pre and post-transplant patients in the outpatient and inpatient settings. There will be ample opportunity to participate in quality initiatives, program administration, and established or novel research projects. Applicants should have an MD or equivalent degree from an approved LCME medical school and have completed a transplant nephrology fellowship or practiced as a transplant nephrologist. Applicants should have strong clinical skills, including experience with all modes of renal replacement therapy, native and transplant kidney biopsy, and management of immunosuppression and its complications. Educational duties include clinical supervision and teaching of house staff, and participation in didactic sessions, transplant conferences, and meetings.
