NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, located on First Avenue & 97 th Street in Manhattan, accommodate over 313,000 outpatient visits, nearly 70,000 emergency room visits and more than 13,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains an academic affiliation with New York Medical College.

Responsibilities:

NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, located on First Avenue & 97th Street in Manhattan, has an exciting opportunity for a primary care physician who is dedicated to medical education to become an Associate Program Director for our 67-resident Internal Medicine Residency Training Program, which is sponsored by New York Medical College.

The Associate Program Director will assist the Program Director in the administrative and clinical oversight of the training program. They must have excellent clinical knowledge and skills, a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring residents and excellent communication skills. They will also participate in academic societies and in educational programs designed to enhance their educational, administrative and leadership skills and there are opportunities to participate in various quality improvement and scholarly activity projects with the residents.

The Associate Program Director will have protected time to dedicate to the residency program and their clinical time will be devoted to outpatient primary care internal medicine but with some time allocated to serve as attending on the inpatient teaching service.

The Associate Program Director will also be eligible for a faculty appointment at New York Medical College which has been affiliated with Metropolitan for almost 150 years. Students from New York Medical College rotate on our services in their third and fourth year as well.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine
  • Possess or eligible for a New York State License
  • Two years of post-residency experience in an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency program, preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and strong attention to detail
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required prior to hire
