Job Details

Providence is seeking a full-time Medical Director of Palliative Care to join a well-established program in Portland, Oregon. The Medical Director provides program leadership and operational management as well as direct clinical oversight of the program to ensure the effective delivery of inpatient and outpatient palliative care services. This means you will lead regional and interdisciplinary teams of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers, and chaplains, as well as reinforce population health-focused education efforts. Additionally, you will also represent Palliative Care on select Providence committees and workgroups - collaborating effectively with stakeholders and leaders from multiple areas while simultaneously guiding the development/implementation of key Palliative Care objectives across Providence.

  • MD/DO degree from an accredited program required
  • Board certified or board eligible in program specialty (BC within one year) required
  • MPH strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated advocacy for palliative care and ability to partner effectively with multiple stakeholders at various levels of the organization
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Oregon required
  • Minimum of 5 years of practice experience required
  • Experience managing providers and leading teams required

Providence Connections is a Palliative Care consultation service for patients living with a serious illness. This interdisciplinary group helps patients and their families find needed resources to control symptoms associated with their illness and maximize quality of life, all while providing compassionate support. Teams of physicians, nurse practitioners, Palliative Care nurses, clinical social workers and chaplains work collaboratively with all members of patients' care teams to provide holistic care.
