Cleveland Clinic Akron General is seeking a board certified adult psychiatrist for the position of Chair for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Cleveland Clinic Akron General. The department encompasses the Psychiatry, Psychology, and Chemical Dependency service lines which includes 23 clinicians, including 7 psychiatrists. Cleveland Clinic Akron General has 2 closed behavioral health units with 55 licensed beds and approximately 2000 admissions annually. These units are scheduled to undergo major renovations within the next year. There is a new psychiatry residency program at Cleveland Clinic Akron General which is approved for 16 residents in total. The inaugural class of 4 psychiatry residents were matriculated on July 1, 2021. Cleveland Clinic Akron General is a primary teaching site for two medical schools- NEOMED and OUHCOM. We also offer a 1-year (August-July) Post-PhD Psychology Residency.

The department and its leadership are heavily involved in teaching, research, and with community mental health services. The new chair of the department will have the opportunity to build behavioral health services throughout the region.

Professional appointment will be through the Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute with faculty appointment through the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University with an optional appointment with NEOMED.
