The prestigious Henry Ford Health System is seeking a Division Head to lead the health system’s newly formed Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Division. Founded in 1915 by auto pioneer Henry Ford and now one of the nation's leading health care providers, Henry Ford Health System is a not-for-profit corporation comprised of 6 hospitals, numerous medical centers, and one of the nation's largest group practices, the Henry Ford Medical Group, which includes more than 1,200 physicians practicing in over 40 specialties. The System's flagship, Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, is a Level 1 Trauma Center recognized for clinical excellence in many specialties. With more than 30,000 employees, Henry Ford Health System is the fifth-largest employer in metro Detroit, and among the most diverse.

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Division is a newly formed division and will serve as a vital component to the future growth plans within the integrated health system. The Division currently sits within the world-renowned Henry Ford Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and will be resourced with staff, dedicated OMFS space and clinics, as well as an incoming residency program expected to launch by 2023.

  • OMFS currently consists of multiple OMF surgery faculty, a PA, and one hospital dentist – full spectrum and high acuity caseload including trauma and emergency department transfers.
  • Dedicated OMFS space at Henry Ford Hospital and the Cancer Pavilion, with upcoming expansions to include adding more ORs and brand-new equipment.
  • A second clinical site is scheduled to open in the suburbs of Detroit in December 2021, which will include 6 new procedure rooms, Cone beam CT imaging, and capabilities for full sedation.

A high priority for the Division and the health system is launching the new OMFS residency program by 2023, in addition to hiring more faculty. The successful candidate for Division Head will lead this team during an exciting period of growth and expansion.

Successful candidates will have a dental degree from an ADA-accredited program and must have completed an advanced training program in oral and maxillofacial surgery at an accredited institution. A license to practice dentistry or be eligible for licensure in Michigan and board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons is required.

For immediate consideration please inquire with an updated copy of your CV so we can discuss the position by phone. Also, inform me of your best available times to speak. I look forward to your reply and thank you for your review. Please do not delay as we anticipate a significant response.
