VA Maine academic affiliate partners, Maine Medical Center (MMC), and Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM), are excited to announce a new opportunity with Maine Medical Partners-MaineHealth Cardiology and VA Maine Cardiology for a full-time cardiologist (non-interventional) interested in a balance of clinical activities, education and research. This position will involve a close working relationship with cardiology faculty from Maine Health Cardiology and VA Maine Cardiology.

Maine Medical Partners-MaineHealth Cardiology and the VA Maine Healthcare System will share this multi-site position. The physician will be providing outpatient and inpatient cardiology services, as well as working closely with the Graduate Medical Education programs at the new Portland Community-Based Outpatient Clinic opening in 2022. We are seeking cardiologists with interest and expertise in education and/or research. 

Research responsibilities may include development of research in cardiology and experience with grant submission is important. Numerous opportunities exist to collaborate with current research faculty at Maine Medical Center in addition to numerous research opportunities available through the VA system.

Education: The position involves a direct teaching role with Maine Medical Center’s Cardiology Fellows and Medical Residents, as well as teaching and mentoring medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Medical School Program. The candidate will have an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Physician: The Physician will engage in scholarly activities to enhance research in cardiovascular disease. Physician will have the opportunity to be part of the Maine Medical Center Research Institute robust cardiovascular clinical and translational research program, as well as the research program of the VA Maine Healthcare System. Candidates with strong research backgrounds who are interested in pursuing extramural funding are encouraged to apply.
