In order to consolidate and develop our expertise in the field of global health, the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) and Unisanté are inviting applications for a position of:

Full Professor in Tropical and Global Health (80-100%)

Starting date: August 1st, 2022

Place: Lausanne, Switzerland

Since January 1, 2019, the University Center for General Medicine and Public Health, Unisanté, has united the activities of the University Medical Polyclinic, the University Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine, the University Institute of Occupational Health, the Vaud Foundation for Cancer Screening, and the association Promotion santé Vaud. Unisanté is an ambulatory medical establishment. It is a recognized centre for medical training, preventive medicine and research.

The incumbent will develop his/her activity within the TropiVac sector of the Department of Polyclinics (DDP), the Digital and Global Health sectors, and the Quantitative Research sector of the Department of Training, Research and Innovation (DFRI).

Within this framework, your main missions will be the following:
Polyclinics Department:

  • Lead and develop the TropiVac sector.
  • To provide pre- and post-graduate teaching (medical parasitology, tropical and travel medicine, etc.)
  • Supervise the clinical activities of the sector

Training, Research, and Innovation Department:

  • Assume co-responsibility for the leadership and development of the department (specifically the Digital and Global Health / Quantitative Research areas)
  • Develop and deliver a pre- and post-graduate teaching load on health issues related to environmental aspects, climate change, and interventions needed to address them
  • Conduct and develop clinical or public health/global/digital research

Desired profile:

  • Federal diploma in medicine or title recognized by the Federal Commission for Medical Professions (Mebeko)
  • MD or MD-PhD
  • ISFM specialist title (or Mebeko equivalent) in tropical and travel medicine and/or public health
  • Proven experience in the field of communicable diseases (especially tropical diseases)
  • Very good knowledge of public health and global health issues at the national and international level
  • Academic knowledge of professorial rank and proven practice in pre- and post-graduate teaching
  • Managerial skills and experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team
  • Perfect command of French and English (at least B2, C1 ideally), knowledge of German being an asset
