Little Rock, Arkansas - University of Arkansas School for Medical Sciences, also known as UAMS, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director, Division of Hematology and Oncology.

As the state's only academic medical center, UAMS has held a unique and vital role in Arkansas for more than 130 years. The College of Medicine is part of a distinguished, comprehensive academic health sciences center composed of five colleges, a graduate school, seven highly regarded institutes, eight Regional Centers, and a comprehensive Medical Center. UAMS provides primary care and complex medical and surgical care to a community of three million people. It is the largest public employer in the state, with more than 10,000 employees. Along with its clinical affiliates, Arkansas Children's Hospital and the Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, it forms an economic engine that yields an annual economic impact of $3.92 billion.

The Division provides cutting-edge treatment to a diverse patient population throughout Central Arkansas. Comprised of nearly 40 physicians and scientists, the Division is home to a broad range of multidisciplinary programs serving as the foundation of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine, Edward T. Yeh, MD, FACC, the Division Director will have a crucial role in defining the Division's future, its educational programs, and research and clinical capabilities. The Division Director will also have a unique opportunity for collaboration with UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute and will play an influential role in the cancer institute's clinical, research, and education program strategic initiatives.

The successful candidate will be an experienced physician with demonstrated academic and research leadership experience. The next Director will have excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills and leadership experience with a history of scholarly achievements in a cancer-related field. UAMS seeks politically astute individuals with strong emotional and social intelligence and a demonstrated ability to connect with others in a meaningful way, at all levels of an organization and across institutions. Candidates must hold a terminal degree in medicine and meet UAMS criteria for appointment as an Associate or Full Professor. Board certification in Medical Oncology or Hematology is required.
