Excellent Breast Surgery Opportunity – Danbury, Connecticut (60 miles from New York City)

Nuvance Health, formerly known as Western Connecticut Health, is seeking a fellowship trained Breast Surgeon for our multi-disciplinary practice in Danbury, Connecticut. Our well-established breast surgery practice in Danbury is part of our larger network integrated breast surgery program under the leadership of Susan K. Boolbol, MD. The Danbury practice additionally includes a Nurse Practitioner and excellent support staff. Our breast surgeons are an integral part of the overall strategy for the Nuvance Health Cancer Institute, which spans our larger 7-hospital system in western Connecticut and eastern New York. Danbury is located in suburban Fairfield County, Connecticut, about 60 miles outside New York City. Recent graduates and 2022 fellows welcome to apply. The ideal candidate will be board certified in general surgery with fellowship training in breast surgery. Candidates should have strong clinical and interpersonal skills. The position includes teaching to residents and medical students as well as participation in breast tumor boards. Our model of care is multi-disciplinary, integrated, and collaborative among all system hospitals. We are accredited by the COC and NAPBC. The team includes Medical Oncologists, Surgical and Radiation Oncologists, Pathologists, Radiologists, Reconstructive Plastic Surgeons, and medical subspecialties. We have a cohesive team of employed physicians and allied health providers, including dieticians, genetic counselors, research coordinators, social workers, and navigators that function in a comprehensive and integrated model of care that is patient centered. The Nuvance Health Cancer Institute is a member of NRG and has a robust clinical trials office including phase one trials, and strong collaboration with PhDs, physician-scientists, and dedicated research coordinators.

Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area residents convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. As a teaching hospital, we are affiliated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Ross University, American University of the Caribbean, and Yale School of Medicine. Our Medical Practice includes 900+ employed physicians and advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout western Connecticut and eastern New York.

Danbury, Connecticut, located in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains and on the border of New York State, is about 60 miles northeast of New York City. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the city of Danbury enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of 4-season activities, including hiking, biking, and boating in state and regional parks and preserves. Surrounded by a number of quaint towns, the area offers a variety of excellent housing and highly rated public and private schools and universities. Boston, New York City, New Haven, and Hartford are easily accessible via car or train.
