This role offers the unique opportunity to build, expand, and develop a new service line and to establish Family Medicine within a value-based multispecialty practice in Boston. The Executive Chair of Family and Community Medicine, will help introduce community medicine into Atrius Health with an eye towards advancing health goals broadly across Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial populations through novel community interventions.Strategic growth in primary care is a top level organizational priority, and through the recruitment of new family medicine providers the Executive Chair of Family and Community Medicine will continue to work of elevating the role of primary care as we distinguish ourselves as a place PCPs want to practice in order to provide high-quality, value-based patient care. This role initially will have clinical oversight of 20+ established family medicine physicians and APCs.

The principal responsibilities include the overall performance of the Service Line, including but not limited to physician and APC recruitment, performance management and retention, as well as overall service line quality performance and improvement, utilization management and risk total medical expense management, and patient safety and risk management.The Executive Chair will partner with the Executive Director dyad as well as the Executive Nursing Director of Primary Care Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for the service line.The Executive Chair of Family and Community Medicine reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer. Atrius Health currently employs over 650 physicians, along with 405 APC providers practicing in 32 specialties, serving 650,000 primary care patients across Eastern Massachusetts. Collaborating with hospital partners, community specialists, and post-acute providers such as SNFs and in-home providers.

As the Executive Chair of Family and Community Medicine you will help define how family medicine clinicians work as part of our broader multispecialty system of care to consistently deliver high value services our patients and our communities. The incoming chairperson will build the future of Family Medicine at Atrius Health and help us continue our legacy of innovation in patient care.Working closely with members of the senior leadership team, including the COO and the VP of Nursing.The appropriate leader will cultivate teamwork, guide collaboration and motivate others to engage in change and drive improvement. This role will count on the support of the Academic Institute to provide and expand teaching and research activities in family medicine and value based multispecialty practice. Atrius Health has had a long history of developing innovative approaches leveraging technology and informatics. The ideal candidate brings significant experience as a physician leader and a deep understanding of value based accountable care. The opportunity requires a candidate which has clearly demonstrated strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Requirements:
  • Board Certified Family Medicine.
  • Extensive experience as a practicing physician, with 7 plus years of progressive leadership experience managing multiple sites.
  • Knowledge and expertise in managed care, quality improvement, andinnovation of care delivery.
  • Experience with teaching programs and clinical research is also strongly desired.
  • MPH or MBA is preferred but not required.
