Brown Medicine’s Division of Infectious Disease is seeking an energetic, motivated physician to join our dynamic academic, multispecialty group based in Rhode Island.

Brown Medicine is a nonprofit primary care, internal medicine, and sub-specialty medical group with over 200 physicians and multiple patient care locations across the State of Rhode Island. One of the largest physician groups in Rhode Island, Brown Medicine is affiliated with the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and employs most of the full-time faculty of Brown’s Department of Medicine. The three-part mission of Brown Medicine is high-level quality patient care, state-of-the-art clinical research, and dedicated teaching of more than 400 medical students, residents, and fellows. This new position is a combination of administrative and clinical duties:

  • Full or clinical academic appointment to Brown University
  • Work with Medical Director to develop, maintain, and systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the system-wide program designed to identify, reduce, and prevent healthcare-associated infections
  • Direct infection prevention activities on adult inpatient units at Rhode Island Hospital and related outpatient settings
  • Provide strategic leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive and aligned Infection Prevention and Control Plan
  • Educates Lifespan and affiliate executive management, department leaders, and members of the medical staff in the changing and emerging local and national infection prevention and control initiatives
  • Analyze data regarding procedure-associated infections, device-associated infections, and infections – develop plans to mitigate risk
  • Provide support for developing educational material for healthcare workers regarding principles of infection prevention and control
  • Provide direct clinical care to patients within the Division of Infectious Diseases
  • Additional duties as outlined by the Medical Director and Director of Infection Prevention
  • Visa-friendly

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified or Eligible in Internal or Family Medicine
  • Fellowship trained and board certified or eligible in Infectious Disease
  • Demonstratable experience in healthcare epidemiology and infection prevention
  • Licensed in RI or in the application process for RI licensure
