Job Summary

The Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology is seeking a full time BC/BE Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist. The successful candidate will be an energetic and collaborative individual who is committed to exemplary patient care, quality and safety, patient experience and educational excellence. Our Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Division includes three experienced pediatric hematologist oncologists and a dedicated nurse specialist. Our pediatric hematology oncology practice includes very active outpatient and inpatient services. The physician will collaborate with our multidisciplinary team which includes specialized nursing, pediatric surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, radiation oncology, pediatric neurology, pediatric psychology, interventional radiology, pediatric procedural sedation, pediatric anesthesiology, and child life specialists. We have clinical data research associates that are dedicated to quality improvement and collaboration with the Children's Oncology Group. While we will consider junior faculty, mid-career physicians with an interest in or additional training in neuro-oncology are preferred.

Job Duties

  • Hematology services include diagnosis and management of all primary hematological disorders including sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, anemia, and thrombotic disorders.


  • Oncology services includes expertise in treating leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors and an expanding neuro-oncology service. Our program includes good standing membership in the Children’s Oncology Group and offers clinical trials for majority of the pediatric cancers. We are part of NCI funded National Community Oncology research program through our adult oncology program and we provide access to treatment for adolescents and young adults.


  • Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital has developed a bidirectional and multidimensional affiliation with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. This highly collaborative and productive relationship allows us to care for complex pediatric oncology patients here at our children’s hospital - keeping families close to home during very difficult times. In addition, the affiliation allows our Division rapid access to CHOP’s world-renowned quaternary capabilities such as Blood and Marrow Transplant, Proton Therapy and CAR T-Cell Therapy.


Janet Weis Children’s Hospital (JWCH) is, located on Geisinger’s Danville campus and is the region’s only dedicated 5-floor, 91 bed children's hospital with a highly successful hospitalist service and a 14 bed pediatric intensive care unit staffed with 24/7 in-house attending coverage. Children requiring non-PICU admission for hematologic or oncologic disorders are admitted to the pediatric hematology-oncology service. JWCH’s team of medical and surgical specialists provide care in over 30 pediatric specialties, including a 41 bed Level IV NICU and 14 bed Level I PICU.

The Department of Pediatrics provides the full range of inpatient medical and surgical subspecialty services, including pediatric hospitalists, critical care, neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, cardiology, genetics, infectious disease, and the full spectrum of pediatric surgical subspecialties. We have active outpatient services including outreach clinics in general and subspecialty pediatrics. The successful applicant will participate in, and contribute to, the department’s established clinical and scholarly activities.

Teaching and mentorship responsibilities include medical students from several affiliated institutions, and residents in our fully accredited categorical Pediatric and Internal Medicine/Pediatric residency programs. An academic teaching appointment is available through Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Many resources and opportunities exist to conduct clinical and translational research and in particular within the Genomic Medicine Institute.

The position requires board eligibility/certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology and Oncology.
