The VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) seeks a dynamic leader to serve as Chief of the Cardiology Section. Candidates for this major leadership position must have an exceptional record of academic accomplishments with national prominence, and have leadership skills to attract, motivate, and direct a group of innovative and productive clinicians, researchers, and educators. The successful candidate should be eligible for appointment as Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) or Harvard Medical School (HMS).

The Cardiology Section serves patients across the spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care with specific units in echocardiography, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, vascular medicine, heart failure, and clinical cardiology. The Section is a major training site for fellows from HMS and BUSM-affiliated programs and its faculty conduct clinical, translational, and health services research in heart failure, vascular medicine, and epidemiology. The incumbent will support strong collaborations with cardiac surgery.

VABHS is the major tertiary referral center for Veterans from throughout New England and is affiliated with BUSM and HMS. The System comprises three campuses and five community-based outpatient clinics. VABHS is a host site for numerous national research programs including the Million Veteran Program, the world’s largest genomic biorepository. VABHS is also the largest recipient of VA intramural research funds and leads other VA facilities in total research funding. 

The position requires US citizenship, MD with licensure, and board certification in cardiovascular disease.
