Job Details

The Department of Pediatrics at Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD) and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth seeks a board certified or board eligible General Pediatrician to join its Section of General Academic Pediatrics (GAP).

The Department believes that general pediatrics is foundational to helping all children lead their healthiest, happiest lives. GAP is therefore central to fostering the ability to manage complexity, the courage to tolerate uncertainty, and the moral clarity to engage in advocacy.

The successful candidate will join a highly collegial and supportive teaching practice for CHaD pediatric residents and Geisel medical students. In addition to education, GAP faculty are engaged in advocacy, quality improvement, ethics, and research. A record of accomplishment and ability to contribute to these missions is preferred, with numerous opportunities available for collaborative on campus scholarship with The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice (TDI), the C. Everett Koop Institute at Dartmouth, and the Norris Cotton Cancer Center (NCCC), among others. Candidates must therefore be eligible for appointment at the Geisel School of Medicine at a rank commensurate with experience and academic portfolio.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to high quality team-based patient and family centered care in a pediatric primary care medical home. Based at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) in Lebanon, New Hampshire, the practice is co-located with a full array of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialty colleagues and boasts embedded behavioral health support and a family resource team on site.

CHaD is the only Children's Hospital Association-approved, comprehensive, full-service children's hospital in NH, with an inpatient pediatric unit, PICU and level III NICU at DHMC and a destination multispecialty ambulatory pediatric center at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic in Manchester, the largest city in the state.

CHaD is also the pediatric service of Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H), an integrated academic healthcare delivery system across northern New England. Founded in 1893, DHMC is D-H's academic medical center, recognized by US News & World Report as the Best Hospital in NH. DHMC hosts over 40 graduate medical education programs, NH's only Level 1 trauma center, and its only air ambulance service, in addition to TDI and NCCC, the regions only National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer institute.

Lebanon is situated in the Upper Connecticut River Valley, a mecca for outdoor activities and home to Dartmouth College, with its abundant cultural and enrichment activities. This position provides a rare opportunity to combine rigorous academic medicine with a serene and low-stress living environment, excellent schools and a high-quality of life. With destinations like Boston, New York and Montreal, the seacoast and ski country within driving distance, this is the ideal place to live, work and play.

Cover Letter and CV should be addressed to:

Qualifications

  • Must obtain and maintain a medical license in the State of NH
