UTMB was established in 1891 as the first academic health center in Texas and is a component of the University of Texas System. Today UTMB includes four schools (medicine, nursing, health professions and graduate biomedical sciences), a network of hospitals and clinics that provide a full range of primary and specialized medical care, and numerous research facilities.

Assistant Professor Psychologist/Researcher – Women’s Health – Join a growing Division of Behavioral Health and Research in the Department of Ob/Gyn at UTMB. In collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of health care providers and researchers, you will have the opportunity to conduct funded research and provide evidence-based psychological evaluation and therapeutic intervention. 

DETAILS

• Research

  • Fund a portion of salary through investigator roles on internal and external grants.
  • Topic open; however, should complement current Division faculty and relate to women’s health.

• Clinical

  • Assess, diagnose, and provide evidence-based interventions.
  • Refer patients to other specialties as needed.
  • Complete clinically appropriate and timely documentation.
  • Communicate sensitively and effectively with patients about evaluation and treatment.
  • Collaborate with other health care providers to coordinate treatment, act as a resource for other disciplines, and provide training and education as needed.
  • Engage in ongoing professional education related to women’s health.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited program.
  • Completion of an APA accredited internship.
  • Licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
  • Clinical experience in health psychology, rehabilitation psychology, or another interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
  • Advanced training in evidence-based practices (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy).
  • Provision of clinical care through telehealth platforms.

Income Package:  A merit-based hiring incentive is available for new recruits. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, level of experience, and includes a path to performance- based incentives and academic promotion.  In addition, UTMB offers a superior benefits package, an excellent retirement program, and a relocation allowance, if needed.
