Position Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics and Department of Human Genetics are searching for full-time faculty members at any rank in medical genetics. Clinical responsibilities will include outpatient clinic and inpatient consults at our main campus and at affiliated sites. Other duties include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

Appointees will join the Chicago Pediatric Genetics and Genomics Group, a multidisciplinary program comprising faculty members from the Departments of Pediatrics and Human Genetics at the University of Chicago and affiliated sites: Advocate Children’s Hospital, and NorthShore University Health System. The group is responsible for the diagnosis and management of children in the largest pediatrics program in the state of Illinois, the Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance. Our program includes 2 attending medical geneticists, genetic counsellors, nurses, a clinical trials office, and a comprehensive program of basic and translational geneticists. We also have one of the highest ambulatory clinic volumes in the country, with clinic sites throughout Chicago, the Chicago suburbs, Northern Illinois, and Northern Indiana. We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in neurodevelopmental disorders, biochemical genetics and lysosomal disorders, cardiovascular genomics, craniofacial genetics, and/or connective tissue disorders and skeletal dysplasias.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be board certified or board eligible in Clinical Genetics and Genomics or Medical Biochemical Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics.
