Section Chief of Epilepsy / Valhalla The Department of Neurology at New York Medical College and Westchester Medical Center seeks candidates for Section Chief of Epilepsy to lead our growing Epilepsy Center. We have a growing pediatric and adult epilepsy program. Our multidisciplinary team includes two epilepsy neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, neuropsychologists, and EEG technologists with a full complement of diagnostic and therapeutic tools and technologies including PET, advanced MRI, stereotactic laser ablation, responsive neurostimulation, deep brain stimulation, vagal nerve stimulation, robotic depth electrode placement, and an active intracranial monitoring program. Our Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratory (EEG) provides a full array of services including routine, ambulatory and long-term adults, children, and neonatal video-EEGs. We provide continuous EEG monitoring services to the neuro, medical, trauma and pediatric ICUs. The Section Chief of Epilepsy will be charged with working collaboratively with leadership to continue to grow our rapidly expanding clinical epilepsy network at Westchester Medical Center and our affiliated regional hospitals and outpatient facilities serving the Hudson Valley region. Clinical duties will include growing our EEG and epilepsy services in the Westchester Medical Health Network, attending in our new state-of-the-art Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, EEG laboratory, and epilepsy outpatient clinics. Applicants with interests in surgical epilepsy, continuous EEG monitoring, student and resident education are of particular interest. The Epilepsy Section Chief will have prior leadership experience and be an accomplished administrator, clinician, and teacher. The position could also include developing and leading an Epilepsy Fellowship program. Applicants with interest and experience in research are encouraged to apply. This position is ideally suited for an enthusiastic, team-oriented individual interested in leading the growth of an epilepsy program that offers an excellent mix of both medical and surgical epilepsy cases. Expertise is required in the specific area of acute, chronic and tertiary care of epilepsy patients, EEG interpretation, intracranial electroencephalography, ICU monitoring and evaluation of patients for epilepsy surgery, including stereo EEG, Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy, intra and extra-operative functional brain mapping and neurostimulation, both in implantable devices and in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. The successful applicant will have an established reputation as an EEG and epilepsy expert.
