Cancer. Care. We Do Both.

The Inova Schar Cancer Institute (ISCI) is seeking an early career medical oncologist with a clinical and research interest in Head and Neck as well as Lung cancers to join our growing group of disease experts. ISCI is the largest clinical cancer program in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, currently with 31 medical oncologists and hematologists working with specialists in surgical oncology, radiation oncology, and other relevant specialists. The main cancer center is a new 400,000 square foot facility which includes multi-disciplinary clinics, over 60 infusion chairs, a dedicated phase I infusion unit, and a robust clinical research operation. ISCI has its own Hematology/Oncology fellowship as well as fellowships in Breast Surgery, Proton Radiation, and Radiation Proton Physics.

The successful candidate will join our group which already includes four H&N/Lung Medical Oncologists, two Thoracic Surgeons, and three Interventional Pulmonologists. This team will provide excellent and expert mentorship and opportunities for professional growth. The candidate could be a graduating fellow or be an attending at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level, and should have a strong interest in clinical care as well as clinical research and managing patients on clinical studies.

The main cancer center of the Inova Schar Cancer Institute is located across the street from Inova’s flagship hospital at its Fairfax Medical Campus (923 beds), which is less than 10 miles outside of Washington, D.C., in Falls Church, VA. This level one trauma center hosts its own residency training programs in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurosurgery, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, and Ob/Gyn. IFMC is consistently ranked by US News & World report and Becker’s Hospital Review as the best hospital in the DC area. IFMC is a regional campus for the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and faculty involved in medical student education can earn an academic appointment with UVA. The ISCI also includes regional cancer centers and programs at 3 of the other 4 Inova Hospitals, including a planned new cancer center in Alexandria, VA. Inova is a long-established, fiscally strong non-profit health care system with five hospitals and a network of ambulatory care sites that is growing to meet the needs of our diverse and rapidly expanding region in Northern Virginia and the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area.

To apply to this position, please send a cover letter and CV to John Deeken, MD, President, ISCI, c/o Rachel Hill, Physician Recruitment, at: Rachel.Hill@inova.org
