Chief Quality Officer

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) is seeking a full-time (MD or MD/PhD) Chief Quality Officer (CQO) dedicated to all aspects of Quality and Safety and driving a forward leading vision for the future.

This is a unique and outstanding opportunity for someone who is driven and passionate about patient safety and quality in an organization nationally recognized for its quality programs, initiatives and practices. The CQO will also be dedicated to furthering DFCI’s mission of providing expert, compassionate quality care to children and adults with cancer while advancing research into the diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of cancer and related diseases. It is an opportunity for a mission-driven leader through whose stewardship will have a direct and meaningful impact upon the lives of employees, patients, and families. 

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, The Chief Quality Officer (CQO) will be a respected, experienced clinical leader with a commitment to creating and leading innovative quality and safety programs that provide outstanding clinical outcomes, patient-centered care coordination, the ideal patient experience and high-value care. They will have the commitment and vision to lead a world-renowned comprehensive cancer center with an unparalleled history of leadership in patient quality and safety. The successful candidate will have a history of building, leading, and inspiring diverse and inclusive teams in a highly matrixed and complex environment that requires close collaboration with a variety of partners. Working with Institute leadership, Board Trustees, clinical Chairs, physicians, and clinical staff, the CQO ensures that clinical care is of the highest quality and safety, exceeding the requirements of patients, regulatory and governmental agencies, affiliates and payers for safety, quality, and service. The CQO will participate in the redesign of existing services and development of new programs and assesses their impact on quality, safety, and service. The CQO’s scope of work extends across the entire Dana-Farber enterprise, including adult and pediatric, inpatient, and ambulatory, main campus, and satellite locations. The chosen candidate will be expected to teach fellows and students in clinical settings. Additionally, the CQO will participate on various organization committees and present the status and quality initiatives at all necessary internal and external forums.

The academic appointment will be at the Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor level at Harvard Medical School and determined by the applicant's credentials. Salary and benefits will be competitive with other institutions. Applicants should have an MD or MD/PhD degree and should be board certified in their respective discipline.
