Medical Service - Pulmonologist

The VA Loma Linda Healthcare System is a Joint Commission accredited, complexity level 1a facility serving over 76,000 unique Veterans in San Bernardino, Riverside, and Inyo Counties of Southern California. Loma Linda is located in the heart Southern California’s Inland Empire a short drive from beaches, mountains and the desert resorts. The VALLCHS has academic affiliations with both University of California, Riverside School of Medicine and Loma Linda University. The Pulmonary/ Critical Care/Sleep Medicine Section is responsible as the primary service for all patients within the Medical ICU, pulmonary consultative services for both inpatients and outpatients, bronchoscopy, subspecialty clinic, and interpretation of pulmonary function testing and polysomnography. Faculty are responsible for supervision and training of pulmonary/critical care fellows and internal medicine residents in ICU and consultation services. The Pulmonary/Critical Care/Sleep faculty at VALLHCS have close, collaborative relationships with faculty from affiliated sites. We are seeking a Pulmonologist to provide pulmonary consultative services and follow-up for inpatients. The applicant will supervise residents and fellows to ensure safe, quality patient care including bedside procedures and proper hand off at the end of shifts, as necessary. Responsibilities will include inpatient and outpatient progress notes and specific documentation for resident and fellow supervision is required. The successful applicant’s quality of care should meet professional standards at all times. They will perform the following functions: Evaluate, diagnose, consult, and order appropriate diagnostic studies and treatments for Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine patients. Also, provide comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the scope of IM/Pulmonary Critical Care/Sleep Medicine. Further, participate in Pulmonary and other Critical Care related committees or work groups, and pulmonary conferences, as assigned. The successful applicant will conduct rotations in the Medical Intensive Care unit with night and weekend call staffed with Medical students, Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine Residents and Pulmonary / Critical Care Fellows.
