The Division of Infectious Diseases, Allergy, and Immunology in the Department of Internal Medicine at Saint Louis University (SLU) School of Medicine is seeking applicants for an Associate or Full Professor with expertise in computational biology, building on a systems vaccinology initiative. The candidate will maintain an independent research program as well as work directly with the CVD to support world-class research in vaccinology. The Center has a 30-year history as an elite, federally-funded Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit (VTEU) that studies infectious diseases and drugs, develops new vaccines, and provides rapid-response capabilities in the event of a public health crisis. This interaction will provide ample collaborative opportunities with researchers performing highly diverse phase I-IV human clinical trials. The CVD is also equipped with one of the only airborne containment inpatient research units in the country, allowing human challenge studies with respiratory pathogens and providing additional possibilities for collaboration.

The ideal candidate will enhance the computational biology work at Saint Louis University, including playing a pivotal role in projects from the Stephen Peiper and Zi-Xuan Wang Institute for Vaccine Science and Policy (IVSP). SLU has committed substantial resources toward developing the IVSP, which sits at the intersection of basic and clinical vaccinology, public health, bioethics, law and diversity, equity, and inclusion. This Institute is composed of nine collaborative strengths and more than 35 faculty from across the University. Numerous charitable donations have supported the IVSP and one critical role for the new faculty hire will be to serve as a leader of the computational biology collaborative strength within the Institute.

Major duties include leading an innovative, multidisciplinary team to analyze and apply large-scale data in the emerging field of systems vaccinology. The candidate should have expertise in analyzing and integrating large datasets, in particular, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics. Further, the applicant should have experience with data interpretation, data mining, and visualization methodologies.

Requirements: MD, PhD, MD/PhD, or an equivalent terminal degree/experience combination. Priority will be given to applicants that have a strong record of high impact publications, have acquired extramural research support, and have demonstrated an interest in infectious diseases and vaccine development.

Please attach a description of your long-term interests and your CV with the application which can be found at the following link: https://slu.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/Careers/job/Doisy-Research-Center/Computational-Biologist--Assoc-Prof-_2021-02655-1
