Physician (Critical Care)
This position is located at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Chief Department of Medicine, Fort Hood, TX.

There is no defined work shift for an intensivist. The incumbent is expected to work in 7 day cycles and be available 24 hours a day to meet the needs of patients in the Intensive Care Unit. The intensivist is not expected to stay in house overnight but must be available for immediate return to the hospital and will be on pager call to assist and remotely supervise resident physicians 24 hours per day in a 7 day cycle. The intensivist is expected to work two 7 day cycles per month. Those 7 day cycles may include attending on the inpatient medical service as opposed to the intensive care unit depending on the needs of the department.
Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.

As a Physician (Critical Care), you will:
- Participate in all Graduate Medical Education programs at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC).
- Guide, instruct, and train interns, residents.
- Train physicians from other hospitals, medical students from universities, and other professional personnel as required.
- Perform administrative duties consistent with the medical management of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
- Serve as the subject matter expert/consultant with regard to the specialized field of Critical Care.
Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
All Health Care Providers must be able to possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
