The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a full-time Board Certified or Board Eligible Academic Faculty, Rheumatologist to join our growing faculty department. 

The University of Texas Medical Branch - UTMB Health is a multibillion-dollar health science center comprised of four schools, three institutes, and over ten exceptional research centers. UTMB was the first academic health center in Texas and is home to the state’s first schools of medicine, nursing, and allied health sciences. For 125 years, the university has maintained a forward-thinking spirit serving its students, its patients, and the people of Texas.

UTMB’s Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology - At UTMB, the Division of Rheumatology provides the highest quality of care to patients with rheumatic diseases while training fellows, residents, and students utilizing up-to-date and evidence- based knowledge of disease processes and treatments. The Division is currently involved in clinical and basic research in antiphospholipid syndrome, systemic lupus, and performing clinical trials in rheumatoid arthritis and gout. We are also a research site for a Treat-to-Target research trial which is a NIH sponsored trial out of Harvard.

Rheumatology Faculty Position - Physician faculty members will mentor and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows while caring for patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings at the UTMB campus and clinic locations. Rheumatology faculty will also participate in clinical trials. All candidates must posses an MD degree or equivalent, completed an accredited ACGME Internal Medicine Residency program, be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, and have the ability to obtain an unrestricted state of Texas Medical license. 

Income Package: A negotiable starting salary is based upon academic rank, experience, and educational background. UTMB also offers a superior benefits package, an excellent retirement program and a relocation allowance.
