UTMB was established in 1891 as the first academic health center in Texas and is a component of the University of Texas System. Today UTMB includes four schools (medicine, nursing, health professions, and graduate biomedical sciences), a network of hospitals and clinics that provide a full range of primary and specialized medical care, and numerous research facilities. UTMB in Galveston is a Level 1 Trauma/Burn Center that has been rated as one of the top-performing major teaching hospitals in the country.

Emergency Medicine Faculty - The University of Texas Medical Branch has immediate junior faculty opportunities (core faculty, US Director, Research Director, APD…) available for Emergency Medicine candidates interested in joining a vibrant and growing program. The position will include leadership, teaching, and patient care responsibilities consisting of:

  • Maintaining clinical duties.
  • Mentoring and teaching of Residents and Medical Students.
  • Encouraging resident participation in scholarly activities.

Candidate Requirements:

  • MD or DO degree from a U.S. Medical School.
  • Board Certification (or Board Eligibility) in Emergency Medicine.
  • Ideally, candidates should have Core Faculty experience in an existing Residency Training Program.
  • A creative thinker with a demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
  • History of scholarly activities and/or research is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Prior recipients of faculty teaching awards and fellowship training is preferred.
