The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking vibrant and highly motivated team members to join our laborist team in the brand new Riley Maternity and Newborn Unit.

The laborist is a critical part of our patient-centered obstetric care model. The laborist will provide comprehensive care for triage, labor and delivery, antepartum, and postpartum patients, with minimal gynecologic procedures including management of early pregnancy loss and ectopic pregnancies. This role will involve clinical activity, teaching, supervision of medical students and OB/GYN residents, and collaboration with active midwifery practice.

Laborists will work 12 or 24-hour shifts as part of a cohesive team to provide continuous coverage of labor and delivery. Laborists will work with Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians to evaluate and manage antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients, assist with obstetric triage and emergencies on the labor and delivery unit, and implement protocols for optimal patient care and quality.

Position Details:
  • Full-time employed position with flexible schedule options of 12 or 24-hour shifts
  • Deliveries at the Level IV Riley Maternity and Newborn unit with a Level IV NICU
  • Teaching and supervision of OB/GYN residents and medical students
  • Collaboration with Certified Nurse Midwifery practice
  • Participation in quality improvement projects
  • Participation in the care of high-risk obstetrics patients


Qualifications:
  • Eligible for academic appointment with the Indiana University School of Medicine
  • Excellent clinical skills and teaching skills
  • Collaborative team player
  • Strong interest in patient-centered obstetric care and teaching
  • Completion of OB/Gyn residency
  • Board certified/eligible in OB/Gyn
  • Physician MD/DO licensed in Indiana or eligible
  • Visa sponsorship available; H1B
