Weill Cornell Medicine in partnership with NewYork-Presbyterian/Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is looking for a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist, at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, to be based in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
NewYork-Presbyterian/ Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is a 651- bed academic institution, academically affiliated with Weill Cornell Medicine, caring for residents throughout Brooklyn and the surrounding areas. Our hospital boasts a Level III NICU, a 6-bed PICU with 400 admissions annually, and a 15-bed pediatric floor with 2,000 admissions per year. Our academic programs include nine graduate medical education residency programs and six fellowship programs. We have a fully accredited ACGME Pediatric residency program comprised of 30 residents and medical students from Weill Cornell Medicine.

The Division of Pediatric Hematology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Brooklyn Methodist Hospital has two FT board certified physicians, nurse practitioners and a social worker. The active child life program is a great asset to pediatric services in the inpatient and outpatient areas. Clinical practice involves all aspects of pediatric hematology, with direct referral of patients with diagnosed or suspected oncologic diagnoses to Weill Cornell . Having one of the largest cohort of patients with sickle cell anemia, the goal is to develop a Center of Excellence for the care of the sickle cell population in Brooklyn and beyond, and be a part of a collaborative NYP enterprise wide Sickle Cell Disease network involving both children and adults. The availability of stem cell transplant and the imminent gene therapy program at NewYork-Presbyterian will position NYP/BMH to offer cutting edge therapies to patients suffering from sickle cell anemia. Another important goal is to develop clinical trials and funded clinical research program at NYP/BMH in collaboration with the division faculty at Weill Cornell. Community outreach and collaboration with local primary care providers are additional important facets of the program.

The primary appointment of the physician will be an academic appointment at Weill Cornell, and the physician will spend approximately 1 day a week at WCM, involved with strategic program building, academic pursuits including clinical research, fellow, resident and medical student education, QA/QI activities and patient care. It is anticipated that clinical research and clinical trials will be in collaboration with the Division at WCM, and the physician will develop applications for both clinical research grants as well as service awards, such as HRSA.
