Job Details
Position Responsibilities:
Our Internal Medicine Attending works with a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate and address the medical needs of patients across the inpatient psychiatry services. Responsibilities include conducting medical evaluations and consultations; reviewing the inpatient and relevant records and lab reports; ordering lab and other tests; ordering medications; and discussing consults with the ordering Psychiatrist as needed. Other responsibilities include reading admission EKGs, conducting ECT pre-evaluations and medical clearances, and co-signing nurse practitioner (NP) history and physical exam documents. The Internal Medicine Attending is available for informal consultation with all psychiatrists, medicine NPs, and medical staff and collaborates with medicine subspecialists including cardiology, gynecology, neurology, and physical therapy. All Weill Cornell Medicine faculty contribute to education and training of psychiatry residents, medical students, and trainees in other disciplines. There are opportunities to engage research and scholarship particularly in the area of management of medical issues for psychiatric patients.

Position Requirements : Academically-oriented candidates are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be board certified in Internal Medicine and/or Family Medicine and possess or be eligible for a license in the state of New York. Experience working with the psychiatric population preferred.
