The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine is seeking a Director of Obstetric Anesthesiology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Candidates must have a Doctorate of Medicine (or equivalent) and be board-certified or board-eligible in Anesthesiology. Candidates must also have or be eligible for a Massachusetts medical license. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

The Department has a proud tradition of providing high quality obstetric anesthesia care. The medical center averages over 1,200 deliveries per year, out of which a significant number are high-risk patients. Over 80% of patients chose regional anesthesia for their deliveries.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to provide compassionate clinical care to our patients and their families and one who enjoys and excels in teaching and mentoring trainees at the resident and medical student level. Priorities for the Director of Obstetric Anesthesiology will include ongoing development of innovative patient programs for the growing obstetric practice, as well as continuing the scholarly focus. The faculty all share a commitment to teaching and collaborate with members of the obstetric unit to provide an environment that is patient centered.

Tufts Medical Center is a 410-bed tertiary care hospital located between Chinatown and the Boston Theatre District and is the primary teaching hospital for Tufts University School of Medicine. Diversity is a central part of the culture and key to the mission of providing the highest standard of care to our ethnically diverse patients. Tufts Medical Center, the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, Tufts University School of Medicine, and Wellforce Healthcare System, of which we are a part, recognize that leveraging a diverse workforce and leadership brings richness to the work environment and builds trust among patients. As proud Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employers, all qualified applicants will receive careful consideration for the position without regard to gender, gender identity or expression, race, religion, cultural background, age, disability, or veteran status. Successful candidates for the position will be committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence with the families we care for, our colleagues, and in our work environment. We are especially interested in recruiting candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community through their clinical care, teaching, advocacy, and research.
