It was called La Bonne Terre, which is French for the good soil. Take an underground walking and boat tour of the Bonne Terre Mine, one of the world's largest man-made caverns! St. Francois State Park is rich with Civil War history and is comprised of the rugged Pike Run Hills surrounding Coonville Creek and Big River. Camping, hiking, backpacking, equestrian trails, and picnic sites and shelters are all featured at the park.
