Staten Island University Hospital, is recruiting a full-time board certified psychiatrist to be the Department of Psychiatry Vice Chairperson. We are seeking applicants with outstanding clinical and managerial skills who have a passion for leading, directing, and developing an academically-oriented behavioral health center of excellence. 

This key leadership position will provide senior oversight of hospital-based services at Staten Island University Hospital. The Vice Chair will work collaboratively with hospital and health system leaders to meet and exceed the department's organizational, clinical, operational, and financial goals. Responsibilities include clinician recruitment, education, supervision, strategic development, and process improvement initiatives.

As part of Northwell Health, Staten Island University Hospital is a 714-bed teaching institution and tertiary care medical center. The Vice Chair will collaborate with the Department’s Associate Chair for Education/Director of Psychiatry Residency Training in supporting the educational and reputational growth of the program.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences at Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) is the most active provider of comprehensive mental health services on Staten Island, a borough of New York City with a population of more than 480,000. Staffed by an accredited team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurse practitioners, nurses, activity therapists, and other personnel, the Department offers sophisticated multi-disciplinary care. Our 23,000 outpatient visits and over 1,450 inpatient discharges are redefining the way behavioral health care is delivered. Interested candidates are required to have an MD/DO or equivalent from an accredited College of Medicine and completion of Psychiatry Residency with Board Certification. Candidates must be licensed as a physician in the State of New York with previous leadership experience in a hospital department, preferably in a major medical center or health system. Candidate should possess outstanding communication and management skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with medical staff, hospital management, and other personnel.

Salary Disclosure

Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
