Job Summary

Deals with infectious diseases of all types and in all organs, including conditions requiring selective use of antibiotics. This specialist diagnoses and treats AIDS patients and patients with fevers that have not been explained. May also have expertise in preventive medicine and conditions associated with travel.

Job Duties

  • Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories.Performsand/orinterpretsdiagnostic testsas needed.
  • Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness.May prescribeor administermedications.Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that includepatients'histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.
