About JIH Obstetrical services:

The service officially opened in January 2019 when the Chinese government granted Jiahui the license to provide obstetrical services.

Prenatal care is delivered at our outpatient sites by teams of 7-8 general OB/GYN physicians expected to care for approximately 100 pregnant women a month. The eventual goal is to build three (3) such teams resulting in 300 births a month. Currently we have built our first team and our obstetrical volume is approaching 20 deliveries a month. Prenatal care is currently restricted to low and moderate risk patients as we solidify our operations. Maternal-fetal genetic testing is currently limited to offering non-invasive prenatal testing and carrier screening processed via a third party. Currently, genetic consultation with a geneticist and counselor is available via telemedicine. Diagnostic testing currently must be outsourced to a sister public hospital. Fetal imaging is provided through the department of radiology by sonologists with specialty training in fetal imaging. Patients who risk out of care at Jiahui Health are referred to a sister public hospital.

Labor and Delivery is comprised of eight (8)  LDRs and two (2) operating rooms. The unit is staffed by nurse midwives and labor and delivery nurses. Physician staffing is achieved with hospital employed laborists as well as the on-call physician from the outpatient team as well as a second call physician. Anesthesia coverage is also 24/7. Currently 2 out of the planned 3-4 laborists are on staff.

We are developing our Global Solutions Network (GSN) to serve our patient population and in anticipation that healthcare in general will be delivered in a global fashion. We currently have formal contractural agreements with Mass General and Mayo Clinic. UCSF, UCLA, City of Hope, and Northwestern are also partners with whom we have meaningful relationships. In the foreseeable future, we hope to partner with a few of these institutions to develop our global health faculty exchange program.
