Mount Auburn Hospital, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is seeking a Chief of Palliative Care. Mount Auburn Hospital was found in 1886 as the first hospital in Cambridge. With 217 licensed beds in all private rooms, the hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission, member of the American Hospital Association Council on Teaching Hospitals, and the Association of American Medical Colleges. Mount Auburn’s mission is to expand access to outstanding care, and advance the science and practice of medicine through education and research.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished clinician who is respected for his/her clinical and educational skills. Applicants must have an MD or DO with Board Certification or Eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine required. Fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine is strongly preferred. Candidates must possess outstanding communication and management skills, strong ability to work collaboratively with medical staff and hospital management, and have demonstrated evidence of leading initiatives and program development. Candidates must be eligible for a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School.

The position will be primarily focused on inpatient palliative medicine with development of outpatient palliative care services. The physician will have a focus on patients with cancer diagnoses as well as non-cancer diagnoses such as heart failure, advanced lung disease, and end-stage renal disease.
