Job Summary

Geisinger, one of the premier tertiary medical systems on the east coast, serving the northeast and central Pennsylvania regions, is recruiting an OB Laborist to join the team at Geisinger Medical Center, in Danville, Pennsylvania and Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate will be a great team player, experience working with midwives and residents and enjoys co-managing with them. In this role you will focus on giving inpatient care to pregnant women, managing labor and delivery on both an emergency and routine basis. GMC has roughly 2000 deliveries per year, and GBH has 500. GMC is also supported by a level IV NICU.

Job Duties

Geisinger Medical Center is Geisinger’s flagship hospital, the anchor of its Central Region and the largest regional-referral, tertiary/quaternary-care teaching hospital in central and northeast Pennsylvania. GMC is a Magnet® hospital as designated by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (“ANCC”) and a designated hospital under the Federal 340B Drug Pricing Program and also is a Level I Trauma center.

Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, located on the GMC campus, is the region’s only children’s hospital, providing the highest level of pediatric care across more than 30 specialties and subspecialties.

Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital is an acute/psychiatric care hospital serving Columbia County and surrounding communities in central Pennsylvania. GBH is located approximately 10 miles east of GMC. GBH complements GMC by offering easy access to a wide variety of programs and services including a 24-hour emergency department. In March 2017, a $1 million renovation of the labor and delivery department at GBH was completed. The project increased the number of private patient rooms with an updated look and state of the art equipment which will improve the overall patient experience and place more focus on low acuity births.
