Job Description

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group has an immediate opening for a full-time Board Certified/Eligible Pediatric Clinical Geneticist/Metabolic Geneticist. This position includes a faculty appointment, commensurate with training and experience, at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine.

University School of Medicine is inviting applications for Director of a Master’s Program in Genetic Counseling. 

The program director works under the direction of the department chair and/or Dean of the School. Responsibilities include program development and administration, assurance of program/clinical education effectiveness, curriculum planning, and development. The director is responsible for assuring that the program meets professional accreditation standards and documentation requirements. 

The successful applicant will be an effective leader with excellent communication, organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills. The job duties include achieving and maintaining program accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC). The Director will coordinate recruitment of clinical sites locally, in the greater Southern California region and elsewhere, including acquisition of appropriate affiliation agreements, in compliance with the standards of the ACGC.

The program will draw from faculty across eight schools at LLU that offer a variety of certificate and degree programs. The Program Director will join an experienced faculty in the Divisions of Clinical Genetics and Genetic Counseling, with the goal of providing a strong grounding in clinical and research skills related to genetics and genomics and to enable a culture of life-long learning. In this full-time position, effort will be divided 80% (0.8 FTE) for program development and administration and 20% (0.2 FTE) for patient related work in a clinical setting.

The successful applicant will possess a Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling or equivalent from an accredited program and be ABGC or ABMG board certified or equivalent. The applicant must have or be eligible for CA Genetic Counselor Licensure. A minimum of five years of clinical genetic counseling experience, knowledge of and experience in curriculum development, and supervising genetic counseling students and/or other clinical supervision, prior teaching, research, and/or administrative experience in an academic center preferred.

This opportunity is not eligible for a J-1 Waiver.
