UTMB was established in 1891 as the first academic health center in Texas and is a component of the University of Texas System. Today UTMB includes four schools (medicine, nursing, health professions and graduate biomedical sciences), a network of hospitals and clinics that provide a full range of primary and specialized medical care, and numerous research facilities.

The Department of Radiology at UTMB – At UTMB, all cardiac, chest and musculoskeletal CT and MRI is performed and interpreted by radiologists. Infrastructure of the Radiology Department includes many multidetector CT scanners, PET/CT, and multiple high field MR systems. UTMB also has a newly renovated hospital which contains a high-speed CT scanner and a 3T intraoperative MRI available for imaging and research. A second UTMB hospital located in League City, contains both UTMB and MD Anderson cancer facilities collaborating on cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment. UTMB recently opened a third 200-bed hospital in the Clear Lake area (near NASA Space Center), with active programs in cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, and orthopedics.

Faculty Breast Imaging Radiologist - The Department of Radiology seeks full-time, board-certified radiologist with experience in all aspects of Breast Imaging and procedures; including, but not limited to, tomosynthesis, diagnostic ultrasound (US), biopsies (US, stereotactic/tomosynthesis, MRI guided), and pre surgical localizations. UTMB has new digital mammography and tomosynthesis units, and a mobile breast imaging van. There are three dedicated breast imaging clinics within the Galveston/League City area; these include clinics at the UTMB League City Campus and Galveston campus which are both designated as an ACR Center of Excellence in Breast Imaging. Additionally, the UTMB Breast Imaging department utilizes the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for medical oncology and radiation oncology services. At present there are three fellowship trained breast imaging radiologists who do not participate in general radiology duties or after-hours call.

Candidate Requirements:

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree.
  • Board Certification/Eligibility by the American Board of Radiology.   
  • The ability to obtain an unrestricted state of Texas Medical License.
