The Division of Urology at Duke University is seeking applications for an academic position at the Associate Professor, or Full Professor rank for an urologist in the subspecialty of urologic endourology and to be Director of the Duke Comprehensive Kidney Stone Center. Candidates must be board certified in urology with fellowship training in endourology with special emphasis on medical stone management Responsibilities for this position would include:

Clinical:
  • The successful applicant must be skilled in open, endoscopic, percutaneous, management of urinary stone disease and be skilled in the use of shock wave lithotripsy.
  • As the position requires regular participation in multi-faculty endourologic practice, the applicant must be team-oriented, flexible, and a good communicator. The applicant should also be comfortable in operating in both hospital-based as well as ambulatory surgical platforms.
  • The applicant must be proficient in their ability to metabolically evaluate and medically treat patients with recurrent nephrolithiasis, or are at high risk for recurrent stone disease

Research/academic:
  • There is an expectation with this position of regular scholarly publication, attendance at academic conferences, and participation in specialty relevant academic societies.
  • The candidate is expected to develop an independent research program including investigator-initiated clinical trials, extramural industry and/or government sponsored research grants in both medical and surgical stone management
  • The candidate is also expected to design and lead research and clinical trials sponsored by the Duke Division of Urology Endourology group.

Teaching:
  • The Duke University Medical Center is a teaching environment. The successful applicant must be a competent educator that will be comfortable with daily teaching interactions with medical students, urology residents, and urologic endourology fellows.
  • Career and academic mentorship of medical students, urology residents, and urologic endourology fellows is expected.
