The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Cardiology, is searching for a full-time Associate Professor or Professor to serve as the Director of our Cardiac Arrhythmia Center (Electrophysiology). The appointee will join and lead an established group of nationally-known physicians, researchers, and educators in the field of Cardiac Electrophysiology. In conjunction with other leaders in Cardiology and the Heart and Vascular Center, the Director is expected to develop strategies for increasing patient referrals and procedure volumes. The cardiac electrophysiology program at the University of Chicago has a long tradition of excellence. A full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for cardiac arrhythmias are provided as well as two new state-of-the-art, dedicated clinical electrophysiology laboratories. The program is currently ACGME-accredited to train four clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellows each year. Clinical responsibilities include performing cardiac electrophysiology procedures and doing outpatient cardiology clinic, inpatient service, and consultation. We especially welcome applicants with clinical and invasive electrophysiology experience, and/or those who specialize in therapeutic approaches for atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be board certified in cardiology, and 4) be board certified or board eligible in clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
