Barnard College seeks nominations for the position of Vice President for Health and Wellness, Chief Health Officer (VP for H&W/CHO), a joint appointment at Barnard and Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC).The VP for H&W/CHO will be a key senior advisor to the Barnard President and senior staff on matters of community health and wellness; disease management and critical public health issues and preparedness. This is a 60% campus-based appointment that reports to the Barnard President and works with many different offices and constituencies across campus on the activities and areas discussed further below and a 40% appointment with CUIMC where the VP for H&W/CHO will serve as a primary care physician and Columbia faculty member in the Primary Care Initiative ("Columbia Primary Care") at Columbia Primary Care Morningside reporting to the Senior Leadership at ColumbiaDoctors.An inaugural position, the VP for H&W/CHO will supervise the Barnard College student health center, Primary Care Health Services and the Furman Counseling Center, oversee the new Francine A. LeFrak Foundation Center for Well-Being which will provide support for student physical, mental, and financial wellness; coordinate the campus response to infectious disease threats; and enhance undergraduate medical research opportunities for Barnard students at CUIMC and Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S) and create pathways to medical school and graduate school in health and wellness fields; collaborate with Human Resources to enhance wellness initiatives for faculty and staff; and serve as a liaison to CUIMC for collaboration between the institutions.

Advanced degree and professional credentials in medicine, with a current appointment at CUIMC preferred. Significant experience in women's health, family medicine, community or organizational health, wellness and disease management, or other relevant area. Experience with college-aged women and knowledge of the particular physical and mental health and wellness issues facing highly intelligent and high-achieving women college students on a residential campus, including depression, anxiety, and the prevention and treatment of infectious disease and substance abuse.
