Job Details

The Center for Comprehensive Pain Recovery (CCPR) within the Neurological Institute and Family Medicine within Cleveland Clinic Community Care are seeking an MD or DO candidate for a new position in a multidisciplinary center dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of individuals with persistent pain. Clinical practice encompasses non-interventional/pharmacological care, general medical management, or a mixture of these. Ideal candidates should have completed additional training in chronic pain management such as through an ACGME pain fellowship or have demonstrated interest and experience in the management of chronic pain conditions. The specialty of interest includes family medicine or internal medicine.

The CCPR vision is to serve patients across the persistent pain continuum, by providing multidisciplinary intervention to reduce risk for pain related disability in individuals with persistent pain while also treating the most complex, refractory chronic pain patients through interdisciplinary rehabilitation. The CCPR includes an innovative population health program to manage low back pain, an intensive pain rehabilitation program, and additional outpatient services including medication and behavioral management strategies for pain. The center is supported by a pain trained physician, advanced nurse practitioners, clinical psychologists and counselors which work very closely with physical and occupational therapists.

The CCPR is looking for candidates to lead and grow the pain medicine components of the CCPR. The role includes outpatient long term management of patients with chronic pain through optimization of medications and integration with other pain rehabilitation disciplines or programs. Additional areas of potential growth and development could include implementation of opioid reduction programs and/or the application of biopsychosocial models of care to the chronic pain patient in the outpatient setting. The candidate should have strong leadership skills with an interest in innovation and program development. The candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of pain specialists, including behavioral health, physical therapy and nursing. This position will involve shared time and appointment across both Family Medicine and the Center for Comprehensive Pain Recovery. Shared time in each area will allow for strong collaboration between CCPR and Family Medicine and optimize treatment for patients.

Candidates should exhibit interest in:
  • Clinical practice
  • Education and training of residents, fellows and medical students
  • Clinical and/or laboratory research

  • Clinical opportunities exist both as inpatient and ambulatory practices, with a primary appointment at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. An academic faculty appointment commensurate with experience is available at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine or Case Western Reserve University. Conference travel, presentation, and participation is highly-encouraged and supported. The clinical and academic group is cohesive and collaborative.

This dynamic position commands an extremely competitive salary enhanced by an attractive benefits package including but not limited to:
    • Excellent medical, dental, vision coverage
    • Comprehensive disability and life insurance benefits
    • Medical malpractice & tail coverage provided
    • Generous time away coverage for vacation, sick time, holidays and CME meeting time
    • Highly competitive retirement plans with employer contribution
    • Faculty appointment available at the Cleveland Clinic Learner College of Medicine commensurate with experience
