The Perelman School of Medicine and the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania seek faculty candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure clinician-educator track. Qualified applicants will be board certified in Hematology-Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, or Gynecologic Oncology, and the successful candidate will receive academic appointment in the appropriate Department of the Perelman School of Medicine. Applicants must have an MD or MD/PhD degree and have demonstrated exceptional qualifications in clinical care, academic medicine, and multi-disciplinary clinical program development. Active board certification is required.

The successful candidate will serve as the Abramson Cancer Center's Deputy Director of Clinical Services of the University of Pennsylvania Health System’s Cancer Service Line (CSL). Working with relevant Chairs, Chiefs, and Executives, this leader is responsible for the integration and clinical impact of inpatient and outpatient care across Penn Medicine’s six fully owned adult hospitals, the hospitals’ multispecialty cancer ambulatory facilities, and affiliated entities within the Penn Cancer Network. The Deputy Director of Clinical Services is responsible for:

  • facilitating quality, safety, and accreditation across cancer programs in the health system;
  • fostering and overseeing disease-specific multidisciplinary leadership teams, clinical pathways, telemedicine, and network clinical trials
  • fostering health equity in the Cancer Service Line;
  • ensuring Penn Medicine’s effective management of primary and advanced cancer care in a complex payment environment; and
  • collaborating with aligned oncology programs and other practices throughout Penn Medicine’s growing market.

The Deputy Director of Clinical Services reports directly to the Director of the Abramson Cancer Center and the Vice President of Cancer Programs in the University of Pennsylvania Health System. With the ACC Director, the Deputy Director of Clinical Services works in tandem with the CSL Chief Administrative Officer around strategy, operations, and change implementation.

The successful candidate will be a proven visionary who has demonstrated success in developing and growing high functioning cancer programs in clinical care and research, quality and safety, and payor relations. An ability to traverse the fields of academic and community medicine across multiple disciplines, corporate entities, and the clinical enterprise while building collaborative relationships with other leaders at the departmental, strategic, and operational level are required.
