The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine is seeking a full-time, Board Certified/Board Eligible Geriatrician for a faculty position.

The University of Texas Medical Branch - UTMB Health is a multibillion-dollar health science center comprised of four schools, three institutes, and over 10 exceptional research centers. UTMB was the first academic health center in Texas and is home to the state’s first schools of medicine, nursing, and allied health sciences. For 125 years, the university has maintained a forward-thinking spirit serving its students, its patients, and the people of Texas.

UTMB’s Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine - Our mission is to advance health care and quality of life for older adults and those with serious illnesses. We promote geriatric medical care through excellence in patient care in our clinics and the Jennie Sealy Hospital ACE Unit; innovative instruction from geriatricians and other faculty within the Department of Internal Medicine; and a strong partnership with the Sealy Center on Aging, whose faculty and fellows conduct aging-related research. The division faculty, fellows, and nurse practitioners provide patient care across a wide range of services on and off the Galveston Island, including the Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit, and Geriatric Clinics and nursing homes in Galveston and League City. The division also manages a growing House Call program, providing care to patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, and memory care units. The Palliative Medicine team helps patients with serious illnesses and their families via symptom management to relieve sufferings and improve quality of care for patients and families.

Geriatrician Faculty Opportunity - selected candidates are expected to develop, grow, and market a robust geriatrics practice. The Mainland geriatrics expansion complements the rapid growth and increasing presence of UTMB clinical operations at all UTMB campuses and the surrounding service areas. Selected candidates must be board certified by ABIM and Geriatrics and they must also be able to obtain a valid Texas state medical license.

Income Package: A competitive base salary is offered and is based on Academic rank / experience coupled with an obtainable RVU bonus program. Additional benefits include a relocation allowance, a superior family benefits program, and an unsurpassed retirement program.
