The Hospitals of Providence opened its new Transmountain Campus in El Paso, Texas on January 17, 2017.
The 106-bed teaching hospital is a collaboration between Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso and The Hospitals of Providence.
The facility is designed to serve the healthcare needs of El Paso and Southern New Mexico, while also providing a world-class training facility for up to 100 medical residents across a multi-year program.
The successful candidate in this position will be employed by TTUHSC El Paso at an academic rank of Assistant Professor or higher commensurate with qualifications, and will be a key participant in the process of establishing a new residency program in Internal Medicine.
The candidate will provide inpatient and outpatient care, provide teaching experiences for medical students and future resident physicians from the PLFSOM.
Major/Essential Functions
- Provides consultations and clinical services in outpatient and inpatient settings
- Maintains all applicable licenses, controlled substance registrations, board certifications, hospital privileges, and third party payer enrollments in good standing
- Supervises residents and participates in teaching activities for medical students and/or residents
- Participates in research and/or scholarly activities in the department
- Participates in committees and other administrative duties as assigned
- Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
- Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
- Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD/ DO
- Licensed in Texas or eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Texas
- Successful completion of an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program
- Successful completion of an ACGME accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship Program
- Must meet the practitioner recruitment requirements as set forth in the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law
Preferred Qualifications:
- Board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Required Qualifications:
Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity.

Pay Statement
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan.
