The Department of Surgery, Duke University School of Medicine, in Durham, North Carolina, is seeking candidates for the position of Division Chief of Urology. Candidates should be recognized clinician-scientists with a history of external peer-reviewed research funding, an active clinical practice and experience in both strategic and operational planning in an academic setting. Candidates should have strong leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to develop collaborative organizational relationships, and be prepared to lead an anticipated new Department of Urology.

Over nine decades of experience in caring for patients with urologic diseases has established Duke's Division of Urology as a world leader in urologic care, research, and education. The Division of Urology in the Department of Surgery consists of 24 MD and 2 PhD faculty.

The clinical faculty is nationally recognized for their expertise in the areas of prostate cancer and benign prostatic diseases, male sexual health, urinary tract stone management, minimally invasive surgery, reconstructive urology, urinary incontinence, testicular cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, pediatric urology and urologic disease clinical trials. The Division has a busy clinical practice with three practice sites that include Duke University Hospital and Clinics, Duke Children's Health Center, and Duke Raleigh Hospital. The Division also oversees a highly regarded Urology service at the Durham VA hospital. Research includes a broad complement of externally funded basic, translational and clinical research, along with four dedicated laboratories, substantial research support infrastructure, and a significant endowment to support this effort.

The Division's residency training program has developed into one of the leading programs in the country, and competes for top medical school graduates. This residency program consists of four residents per year (24 total), and incorporates a robust research requirement. The Division also has three fellowship programs in the areas of Endourology, Metabolic Stone Disease, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery; Urologic Oncology, and Reconstructive Urology and Genitourinary Cancer Survivorship.
