Essential Functions

Hands of Hope, Agape Care’s Pediatric Palliative Care and Hospice Program is seeking a Medical Director to strengthen and grow our program throughout the state of South Carolina. Candidates with proven leadership and 5+ years of pediatric palliative care and hospice experience are preferred and encouraged to apply. Board Certification in hospice and palliative care required. Opportunities for program growth include; relationship development with care partners throughout the state, community initiatives and education, structure and formalization of the program processes, and promotion of quality improvement endeavors. This role will oversee the program in its entirety, providing medical management to the clinical team, supervising weekly IDG meetings and all clinical certifications. Candidate must be passionate about pediatric palliative and hospice and committed to the hospice philosophy.

Position Highlights:

  • $10,000 Sign-on Bonus
  • Employed full-time position based in SC, travel as needed for patient care (based on patient/family/team need) with occasional travel for training and/or meetings.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

EDUCATION: Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy required. South Carolina Medical License.

LICENSURE: Current unrestricted State license to practice medicine. Board certification in Pediatrics required. Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship and/or Hospice Medical Director certified preferred. Five years of experience in healthcare, ideally a combination of pediatric acute care and hospice care/public health experience. Experience with a home based care delivery service is a plus.

EXPERIENCE: Prior supervisor/management experience. Experience with terminally ill patients. Experience in effective pain management and symptom control. Requires demonstrated interpersonal, supervisory, and management skills with ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrates proven decision making and financial management skills. Exhibits working knowledge of regulations and reimbursement in hospice care as well as proven leadership abilities. Respected by physician peers and has the ability and willingness to act as a liaison from the hospice to other physicians. Commitment to hospice philosophy and care techniques.

TRANSPORTATION: Reliable transportation.

HEALTH STATUS: Meets all applicable agency policies and procedures related to physical exam and required testing.
